Preparatory Task 2- Genre Convention Research

For this task I did some genre research and looked into the way genre conventions are used in 2 media products. First, I stated the main dance genre conventions, then I applied them to the music videos of This is what You Came For by Calvin Harris and Rihanna and Lean On by Major Lazer and DJ Snake.

I found that Dance music videos are usually colourful and upbeat, reflecting the nature of the music. The video is meant to make the viewer want to dance to the music, therefore more upbeat songs have a faster-paced narrative ad shot changes.
